Product Owner

We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Product Owner to join a 3-month project with a fast-growing platform that provides last-mile access to health products and services across Africa. The platform focuses especially on women and underserved, lower-income markets. You’ll own the product roadmap, the prioritised backlog and end-to-end delivery across several business initiatives and African markets. You’ll work closely with Engineering, Business and Operations to turn business needs into practical technology solutions.

This is a hybrid, full-time role starting in early November. It suits a technically fluent Product Owner who works directly with engineering teams and can take products from requirements through to production release. It is not a purely strategic Product Manager role. Key product areas include AI and machine learning, last-mile delivery technology, IoT/GPS and cold chain management, dashboards and analytics, and mobile app development.

• Own the full technology product lifecycle, from discovery and requirements definition through development, release and ongoing optimisation
• Define and maintain product roadmaps aligned with business objectives, operational priorities and customer needs
• Translate business and operational requirements into implementation concepts, epics, acceptance criteria and development-ready user stories
• Prioritise and refine the product backlog so that work is ready ahead of sprint planning
• Facilitate Agile ceremonies, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives
• Drive delivery against sprint objectives, managing dependencies, risks, blockers and spillover
• Coordinate SIT, UAT, business validation and stakeholder sign-off, and work with QA to define test cases and regression requirements
• Coordinate production releases, go-live readiness and post-implementation support
• Manage multiple concurrent initiatives across different markets and stakeholder groups
• Support warehouse management, last-mile delivery, cold chain and digital platform solutions, and improve reporting, dashboards and business insights
• Monitor product performance using KPIs, customer feedback and operational data
• Keep senior Business, Operations and Technology stakeholders informed, manage expectations and resolve delivery challenges

• 5–8 years’ experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager or in a similar technology product delivery role. This role is hands-on and delivery-focused, not purely strategic.
• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
• Proven experience taking digital products through the full lifecycle, working directly with software engineering teams
• A demonstrated ability to turn business requirements into epics and development-ready user stories
• Strong experience with roadmaps, backlog prioritisation and sprint readiness in Agile/Scrum environments
• Experience coordinating SIT, UAT, business sign-off and production releases
• A good understanding of software development processes, APIs, integrations and digital platforms
• Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Aha! or Trello
• A strong grasp of UI/UX principles and customer-centred product development
• An analytical, data-driven approach to prioritisation and decision-making
• Strong stakeholder management, communication and facilitation skills

• Technology product experience in e-commerce, logistics, healthcare, supply chain or last-mile delivery
• Exposure to warehouse management systems (WMS) and operational technology platforms
• Experience with IoT, GPS tracking, cold chain management or delivery applications
• Exposure to AI/ML-enabled products and data analytics platforms
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics or other ERP-integrated solutions
• Experience with transaction platforms, reporting dashboards or BI products
• Experience coordinating technology deployments across multiple African markets, particularly Rwanda, Kenya, South Africa or Ghana
• A Product Owner certification such as CSPO, SAFe POPM or equivalent
• Experience supporting production releases, hypercare and continuous product optimisation
