SDE - 3 (Backend / Fullstack)

We are hiring a high-impact Staff Engineer / SDE-3 to build and scale core backend systems, product architecture, and platform infrastructure for a fast-growing AI-first startup. This is a hands-on engineering role for builders who have worked in strong product/startup environments and enjoy solving large-scale engineering problems across backend systems, distributed architectures, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and product scalability. You will work closely with founders, product, and engineering leadership to drive architecture decisions, ship production-grade systems, and help scale engineering from the ground up.

Responsibilities:

• Design and build highly scalable backend systems and APIs.
• Drive architecture decisions across backend and full-stack systems.
• Optimise system performance, reliability, scalability, and developer productivity.
• Build clean, maintainable, production-grade code with strong engineering standards.
• Collaborate closely with product and founders on 01 and scale-stage initiatives.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering culture/processes.
• Improve observability, deployment workflows, and infrastructure reliability.
• Work across backend, infra, and occasionally frontend layers when needed.

Requirements:

• Strong backend engineering fundamentals with the ability to build scalable production systems.
• Experience working in Series A+ / high-growth product startups.
• Ability to independently own architecture, design, execution, and scaling challenges.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, databases, APIs, performance optimisation, and cloud infrastructure.
• Comfortable operating in fast-moving, high-ownership startup environments.
• Product-thinking mindset, not just ticket execution.
• Ability to mentor engineers and raise engineering quality across teams.
• Tier-1 CS pedigree (IITs / NITs / BITS / top institutes) is a strong plus.

Must Have Skillset:

• Strong expertise in backend development using Node.js .
• Strong understanding of system design and distributed systems.
• Production experience with React + TypeScript.
• Strong SQL and PostgreSQL fundamentals.
• Experience building scalable cloud-native applications on AWS.
• Strong API architecture and asynchronous systems understanding.
• Experience working in product startups at scale.
