It advertises positions such as a Cisco secure access lead architect, IT manager, principal telco platform engineer and service delivery manager for private networks. The agency is headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Role purpose:
The Solutions Engineer sits in the Product team and delivers small projects end to end across the company’s integrations and internal tools, from gathering requirements through to build, testing, and release. Working directly with Product Owners and business stakeholders, this role connects POS, digital ordering, payment, and back-office systems and builds tools that help the company Stores, Operations, and Finance work more efficiently. Larger initiatives are scoped by the Solutions Engineer and handed to the Engineering team.

Key responsibilities:
Requirements & solution design:

  • Work with stakeholders and Product Owners to gather requirements, map processes, and define acceptance criteria for small projects.
  • Design simple, maintainable solutions, documenting data flows, business rules, and integration touchpoints.
  • Assess project size and complexity, flagging work that should move to the Engineering team.

Build: integrations & internal tools:

  • Build and maintain integrations between Micros Simphony, aggregator platforms, payment providers, loyalty systems, and back-office platforms using REST APIs, webhooks, and file-based interfaces.
  • Develop internal tools and automation using Python (FastAPI), React, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and n8n, querying Snowflake and operational databases where needed.
  • Implement secure authentication patterns, including OAuth 2.0 and key-pair authentication, and manage credentials appropriately.

Testing, release & support:

  • Plan and carry out testing for own projects, including API, regression, and end-to-end tests, and support stakeholders through UAT.
  • Release changes to production following agreed deployment and change-control processes, with monitoring and alerting in place.
  • Provide support for delivered solutions, resolving incidents and working with vendors on root causes.

Core deliverables:

  • Signed-off requirements and acceptance criteria for each small project.
  • Working, documented integrations and tools released to production.
  • Test evidence, UAT sign-off, and release notes for every release.
  • Monitoring, runbooks, and handover documentation for supported solutions.

Required skills & competencies:

  • 3+ years’ software or integration engineering experience, with exposure to requirements gathering and testing; a relevant degree, diploma, or strong project portfolio counts.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript, with experience building and consuming REST APIs.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred); exposure to Snowflake advantageous.
  • Ability to translate business needs into clear requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience with test practices (Postman, automated tests), Git, Docker, and CI/CD.
  • Ability to leverage AI coding and productivity tools (such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor) to speed up requirements, development, testing, and documentation, with strong judgement in reviewing and validating AI-generated work.
  • Exposure to POS, payment, or food-ordering platforms (Micros Simphony, Transaction Junction, Uber Eats, Mr D) advantageous.
