Senior Business Analyst

We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to work within a large, complex enterprise environment at MTN South Africa. The successful candidate will be responsible for understanding business needs, eliciting and documenting business requirements, developing detailed user stories and acceptance criteria, and ensuring that requirements are effectively translated into solutions. The role requires close collaboration with business stakeholders, cross-functional teams and technical delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle, supporting both Agile and Waterfall initiatives. The candidate will also facilitate stakeholder workshops, analyse business processes, develop business analysis artefacts and support testing activities, including the planning and facilitation of User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

• Facilitate business requirements gathering, stakeholder interviews, workshops and requirements elicitation sessions.

• Analyse, document, validate and manage business, functional, non-functional, reporting and data requirements.

• Develop and maintain business analysis documentation, including:

  • Requirements Definition Specifications (RDS).

  • Epics, Features and User Stories.

  • Acceptance Criteria.

  • Business Process Models and Process Flows.

  • Requirements Traceability Matrices.

  • Data and Reporting Requirements Specifications.

  • UAT Test Plans and Test Cases.

• Document and analyse as-is and to-be business processes, identify gaps and recommend process improvements.

• Translate business requirements into clear specifications to support solution design, development, testing and implementation.

• Facilitate collaboration between business stakeholders, project teams, architects, developers, testers, vendors and operational teams.

• Support Agile and Waterfall delivery initiatives, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, requirements prioritisation and solution validation.

• Define and document business rules, data requirements, reporting requirements, KPIs and management information needs.

• Conduct impact assessments, gap analysis, solution evaluations and change assessments across business, process, technology and data domains.

• Facilitate whiteboarding and Design Thinking workshops with cross-functional teams.

• Support testing activities, including UAT scenario definition, SIT test case reviews, UAT planning and execution, and defect resolution.

• Prepare UAT test results, test reports, workshop outputs and meeting minutes.

• Ensure compliance with organisational business analysis methodologies, governance standards, quality requirements and documentation standards.

• Provide business analysis support during solution implementation, deployment, transition to operations and post-implementation reviews.

• Conduct cost-benefit analysis and contribute to business case development.

• Apply appropriate business process modelling techniques and methods throughout the project lifecycle.

Education and Qualifications

• Minimum 3-year degree or diploma in a relevant discipline.

• Certification of Capability in Business Analysis (CCBA) or an equivalent qualification aligned to BABOK.

• Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), or equivalent BABOK-aligned certification – advantageous; candidates working towards certification will also be considered.

• Certification in Design Thinking frameworks – required.

• Relevant Agile qualification, such as SAFe, Scrum, Kanban or Agile Foundation – required.

• Facilitation certification – essential.

• Six Sigma certification – advantageous.

• Fluent in English.

Experience and Skills Required

• Minimum 5 years' Business Analysis experience within large, complex enterprise environments.

• At least 5 years' experience in business analysis within solution development lifecycle projects or programmes.

• Minimum 2 years' facilitation experience.

• Minimum 2 years' experience working in an Agile environment.

• At least 3 years' experience in Design Thinking, prototyping and user journeys.

• Proven experience in requirements elicitation, analysis, documentation, validation and traceability across the full project lifecycle.

• Experience in information and data analysis, data mapping and requirements management.

• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Experience facilitating workshops, whiteboarding sessions and cross-functional engagements.

• Strong understanding of systems engineering concepts.

• Experience in business process modelling, cost-benefit analysis and business case development.

• Working knowledge of Azure DevOps (ADO), Jira, Confluence, Visio, SharePoint and Microsoft 365.

• Knowledge of Power BI, SQL, ARIS, Casewise or Abacus will be advantageous.
