About the Role

SolarWinds is seeking a Technical Project Manager to join our Platform Reliability organization. The team protects and improves the reliability of critical production systems while delivering a growing portfolio of infrastructure, resilience, security, compliance, cost optimization, automation, and developer enablement initiatives.

This role will bring dedicated program leadership to that portfolio. You will create clarity across complex, cross-functional work, establish predictable delivery, surface risks and dependencies early, and help engineering leaders and teams stay focused on reliability, resilience, automation, scalability, and operational risk reduction.

What you’ll do

• Own an integrated portfolio view of SRE initiatives, including scope, milestones, owners, dependencies, risks, decisions, capacity constraints, and delivery status.
• Lead integrated planning across SRE stakeholders - Platform Engineering, Application Engineering, Product, Security, and Finance.
• Establish intake governance and readiness checks for SRE dependent work, ensuring initiatives involve SRE early enough to identify technical dependencies, operational risks, resource needs, and realistic timelines.
• Translate roadmaps and business priorities into executable delivery plans with clear outcomes, milestones, accountable owners, and decision points.
• Coordinate reliability programs such as infrastructure and kubernetes upgrades, production migrations, disaster recovery exercises, production readiness, maintenance windows, security and compliance work, automation, capacity planning, and cost optimization.
• Facilitate prioritization and capacity discussions when multiple teams have competing requests, using business impact, customer impact, risk, company goals, and available SRE bandwidth to guide trade offs.
• Maintain delivery rhythm through planning sessions, dependency reviews, risk and issue reviews, milestone tracking, and concise stakeholder updates.
• Prepare executive status reporting focused on business impact, delivery confidence, decisions required, risks, and escalations - not just activity reporting.
• Partner with SRE leadership to measure progress against reliability and operational excellence objectives.
• Act as a trusted facilitator and escalation point who helps teams resolve ambiguity, make decisions, and maintain forward momentum.

What you’ll bring

• 4+ years of experience managing technical projects, programs, or portfolios in software, cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, DevOps, SRE, or a related environment.
• Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional initiatives from early planning through delivery and operational adoption.
• Understanding of software delivery and production operations, including infrastructure, cloud platforms, CI/CD, observability, incident management, change management, and reliability practices.
• Experience coordinating work across engineering teams with shared dependencies, constrained capacity, and competing priorities.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and tools, including Jira, Confluence, roadmap and portfolio management platforms, and similar delivery systems.
• Strong risk management skills, including the ability to identify hidden dependencies, schedule threats, operational risks, and decision gaps early.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor technical and delivery information for engineers, managers, executives, and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience building portfolio views, roadmaps, delivery plans, executive reports, operating cadences, and measurable outcome tracking.
• Ability to facilitate difficult prioritization and trade-off conversations while maintaining trust and alignment across teams.
• Technical fluency sufficient to understand architecture discussions, delivery constraints, operational risk, and engineering trade offs.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, paired with sound judgment about where process adds value.
• A bias for ownership, action, transparency, and continuous improvement.

How you’ll measure success

In your first 90 days

• Build relationships with SRE leadership, engineering partners, product, security, finance, and other key stakeholders.
• Establish a current state view of the Production Engineering and Operations portfolio, including active initiatives, milestones, dependencies, risks, owners, and capacity constraints.
• Document the operating cadence for intake, planning, prioritization, status reporting, and escalation.
• Identify the highest impact opportunities to improve delivery predictability and reduce coordination overhead.

In your first 6 months

• Establish a complete, prioritized portfolio with accountable owners and delivery milestones.
• Improve visibility into cross-team dependencies, resource constraints, and schedule risks.
• Improve alignment between engineering roadmaps and SRE capacity.
• Demonstrate measurable progress against reliability and operational excellence goals.
