Would you like to play a meaningful role in shaping reliable and high-performing software for complex systems? In this role, you will tackle complex technical challenges, influence software design decisions, and help create solutions built for long-term success. Come and join us!

We are facing an exciting future with considerable growth and demanding changes. We continue to evolve our advanced technologies and mission critical solutions for the defense and aerospace industry to deliver real-world solutions that matter to the security of people on land, at sea and in the air. Therefore, we are looking for a Java Software Engineer to become part of this journey and contribute to our overall purpose - securing people through advanced technology.

Your role as part of the team

As our new Java Software Engineer, you will play a key role in developing robust software solutions for advanced maritime defense systems. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain backend and system-level functionality in Core Java, taking ownership of components throughout their lifecycle and ensuring high quality, performance, and reliability.

In our team we take pride in developing people and technology. You will become part of our Sensors & Detection team, where collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement are an integral part of everyday work. The team is supportive, and we value collaboration, providing a great opportunity for you to share ideas, grow your technical expertise, and work closely with engineers and domain specialists on solutions that support critical missions. We care about the work we do and the people behind it.

Technical skills matter, but your mindset matters even more. If you are motivated by solving complex problems, enjoy understanding how software fits into larger systems, and take a structured approach to delivering high-quality solutions, then you could be a great addition to our team.

How you will make a meaningful contribution

In this role, you will contribute to a range of tasks across your area of responsibility. Your key responsibilities include:

    • Design real-time components that communicate through TCP/IP and UDP with sensor hardware
    • Strong foundation in object-oriented design and SOLID principles
    • Work extensively with multithreading and performance-critical code
    • Develop new components as well as maintain existing ones
    • Take ownership of components across their lifecycle - from design to long-term maintenance
    • Collaborate with engineers and domain specialists across software and system disciplines
    • Ensure high quality through testing, code reviews, and continuous improvement
    • Support and mentor team members through knowledge sharing and technical discussions.

Bring your expertise into play

To thrive in this role, we imagine that you bring some of the following qualifications:

    • Have experience developing software in Java and the Core Java ecosystem.
    • Have worked with multithreading, concurrency, and synchronization.
    • Have experience building performance-critical, real-time, or highly concurrent systems.
    • Have experience designing modular, maintainable, and testable software solutions.
    • Have worked with Java testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito, as well as development tools such as Git and Maven.
    • Have experience with TCP/IP and UDP communication, Java Swing, CI/CD tools, or software development in high-reliability environments.

Most importantly, we believe diverse experiences add value to our team and organization. Therefore, we encourage you to apply even if you do not meet all the above requirements.

As we are an international organization, it is important that you are fluent in English both in writing and verbal at a professional level.
