Lead Software Engineer

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Lead Software Engineer to join our dynamic team, focusing on leading and overseeing the development of our data infrastructure. You will be responsible for architecting and implementing software solutions to automate, enhance, and support our data platform, primarily leveraging Snowflake and cloud technologies. This is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate your expertise in software engineering, cloud data platforms, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automation while guiding the creation of a robust, scalable, and secure data ecosystem. You'll get to understand the challenges of how data is being used at Disney's world-class streaming services while pushing the boundaries of what is possible using the latest technologies available in AWS, Databricks, and beyond.

Responsibilities:

• Focus on major areas of work, typically 20% or more of the role's % of time.
• Oversee the development and maintenance of software solutions using Python to automate and enhance the management of the Snowflake data platform, including user access, permissions, and resource utilization.
• Lead the design and improvement of integrations between Snowflake and other systems using Python, APIs, and Snowflake connectors, ensuring robustness and maintainability.
• Drive the implementation and management of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using Terraform, focusing on automating the deployment and scaling of data infrastructure components.
• Collaborate with the team to design and implement data models, applying advanced software engineering principles to ensure database schema design is scalable and maintainable.
• Lead the development and maintenance of software components that enforce data security and compliance with organizational policies, integrating with existing security infrastructure.
• Guide and mentor junior team members, providing support and feedback to help them grow and succeed in their roles.

Requirements:

• Minimum and Preferred. Inclusive of Licenses/Certs (include functional experience as well as behavioral attributes and/or leadership capabilities).
• In-depth understanding of database technology, including relational databases and SQL.
• Strong experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools, especially Terraform, CI/CD, or automation tools.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to learn new technologies quickly.
• Proven leadership skills and experience in overseeing software engineering projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Comprehensive understanding of data warehousing concepts and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Expertise in designing complex systems and making key architectural decisions with reasonable trade-offs.
• Snowflake expert, including architecture, management, and key features.
• 7+ years of relevant professional experience and a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field OR 5+ years of relevant professional experience and a master's degree in computer science or a related field.
