Position: Dispatch Supervisor

Job Summary

The Dispatch Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the dispatch department, ensuring the efficient scheduling, coordination, and delivery of goods or services. This role involves supervising dispatch staff, maintaining excellent customer service, ensuring compliance with company procedures, and driving operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage the daily activities of the dispatch team.
• Plan, coordinate, and monitor dispatch schedules to ensure on-time deliveries.
• Allocate vehicles, drivers, and routes effectively to maximize efficiency.
• Monitor vehicle tracking systems and respond to any delivery delays or issues.
• Liaise with customers, drivers, warehouse staff, and other departments regarding dispatch requirements.
• Ensure all dispatch documentation is accurate, complete, and processed correctly.
• Investigate and resolve delivery discrepancies, customer complaints, and operational issues.
• Monitor driver performance and ensure adherence to company policies and road safety regulations.
• Train, mentor, and evaluate dispatch personnel.
• Maintain accurate dispatch records, reports, and performance metrics.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and company procedures.
• Assist with workforce planning, leave management, and shift scheduling.
• Identify opportunities to improve dispatch processes and operational efficiency.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric (Grade 12).
• Relevant qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transport Management, or a related field is advantageous.
• Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a dispatch or logistics environment.
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is essential.
• Strong knowledge of dispatch operations, fleet coordination, and route planning.
• Experience using dispatch, fleet management, or transport management systems.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Valid driver's licence is advantageous.
