Graduate Analyst Programme - Healthcare Strategy & Operations

Welbeck is looking for ambitious graduates with strong data analytics skills and hands-on Power BI experience. Over 12 months, you will use data to help leaders make better decisions about healthcare capacity, workforce, investment and patient experience.

You will work directly with operational leaders, clinicians and executives across our London, Oxford and Cambridge centres, taking responsibility for analysis that informs real decisions. You will work on live projects rather than rotating between departments. Expect complex questions, imperfect information and the chance to see your recommendations put into practice.

What you will do

· Dashboards. Build clear, interactive Power BI dashboards that bring together operational, workforce and commercial data to track performance and highlight where action is needed.

· Data people can trust. Clean, combine and validate data from multiple sources, define consistent measures and document assumptions so colleagues can trust and reproduce your analysis.

· Workforce and performance. Analyse trends in retention, productivity and service performance, test possible explanations and distinguish evidence from assumption.

· Capacity and patient flow. Evaluate opportunities to expand capacity and improve theatre utilisation and patient flow, balancing commercial value with patient safety and experience.

· Investment cases. Model the financial and operational impact of investment and process changes, testing how different assumptions affect the recommendation.

·Recommendations. Present concise recommendations to senior leaders, explain the limitations of the evidence and help measure whether agreed changes deliver the intended improvements.

What you will gain

You will build commercial judgement, a practical understanding of how healthcare services operate and experience in business intelligence, strategy and operational improvement. Working with leaders and clinicians, you will learn to frame the right question, defend your analysis and communicate findings to people with different priorities.

This is a fixed-term programme. Graduates who perform strongly will be may be considered for permanent roles in analytics, strategy or operational management as they arise.

What you will bring

We are looking for analytical ability, intellectual curiosity and sound judgement. Your evidence can come from university projects, a dissertation, internships, employment or personal projects. Prior healthcare experience is not required.

Essential

· Power BI. Hands-on experience building clear, interactive Power BI reports.

· Data analysis. Cleaning and validating data, investigating trends and outliers, applying sound statistical reasoning and turning findings into recommendations.

·Excel. Formulas, lookups and pivot tables, with the ability to check calculations and build structured models.

· Communication. Explaining complex findings simply, with effective visuals, and answering questions about your methods and assumptions.

· Judgement. Challenging assumptions, working through ambiguity and knowing when more evidence or guidance is needed.

· Care. Attention to detail, resilience and discretion with confidential information.

Desirable

· Advanced Power BI. Power Query, data modelling and table relationships, and DAX measures.

· Coding. SQL, Python or R.

· A quantitative degree. STEM or another quantitative discipline.

Minimum eligibility

· A 2:1 undergraduate degree (upper second-class honours) or equivalent, in any discipline.

· The right to work in the UK from November 2026 for the full programme. We are unable to offer visa sponsorship.

· Available to start in November 2026 and work full time, with three days a week on site in London.

· Able to attend the in-person assessment day in London.
