Wise is a British financial technology company founded in 2011 by two Estonians who were frustrated by the cost of moving money between pounds and euros. It built a network of local bank accounts in each market so that most transfers never cross a border, publishes the mid-market exchange rate with an explicit fee, and has extended the model into multi-currency accounts, debit cards, business payments and an infrastructure product that banks resell. The company listed directly on the London Stock Exchange in 2021 and moves tens of billions of pounds for millions of personal and business customers each quarter.

Wise is a global technology company, building the best way to move and manage the world’s money.

Min fees. Max ease. Full speed.

Whether people and businesses are sending money to another country, spending abroad, or making and receiving international payments, Wise is on a mission to make their lives easier and save them money.

As part of our team, you will be helping us create an entirely new network for the world's money.

For everyone, everywhere.

Lead Data Analyst (IC3) - Data Platform

The Platform Engineering Tribe:

We are the driving force behind Wise, making sure everything runs smoothly. We support our engineering teams so they innovate, build and ship great code quickly and confidently. Our expertise spans Data, Machine Learning, Incident and Risk Management, Hardware, and System Efficiency, all designed to foster an unparalleled Engineering Experience.

The Analytics Role:

We're looking for a Lead Data Analyst to help shape how Wise invests in and improves its data platforms. You'll work across our Data Platform, covering the infrastructure that moves and stores our data through to analytics, machine learning and AI.

There's scope here to establish how we measure the value of these platforms and use that understanding to influence what we build next. Working closely with engineering and product leads, you'll help us understand where investment is paying off and where a different approach would make a bigger difference.

This is a hands-on role. You'll build the datasets and models behind your recommendations, taking ownership of analytical work from the initial question through to the decisions it supports. We want someone who enjoys understanding how systems work and can connect that technical detail to what matters for the people using them.

How you’ll contribute:

  • Work with our teams to identify the questions that matter, agree how to measure success and help prioritise investment.

  • Lead analytical projects, choosing an approach that fits the problem and carrying the work through to recommendations teams can use.

  • Build and maintain the data pipelines and models that make your analysis reliable and repeatable.

  • Bring an analytical perspective to engineering and product discussions, helping colleagues understand the evidence and the trade-offs behind a decision.

  • Share your methods and knowledge so other analysts and engineers can build on your work.

Technical Expectations:

  • 6+ years of commercial experience in a product-led environment

  • Proficient in SQL and familiar with data visualization tools such as Looker, Superset, PowerBI, or Tableau

  • Experience in automation and building data pipelines and working with tools like DBT and Airflow for ETL processes.

  • Skilled in using REST APIs to develop and manage data integrations

Soft Skills:

  • Critical thinking: You're comfortable working through an open-ended question, challenging assumptions and deciding what evidence would help answer it.

  • Influence: You can explain complex findings clearly and build trust with people who bring different technical and business perspectives.

  • Curiosity and ownership: You want to understand how things work, follow a problem through and take responsibility for making your analysis useful.

Why Should You Join Our Team?

Our platforms support analysts, analytics engineers and data scientists across Wise. You'll have the opportunity to improve their day-to-day work by helping us understand what they need from our tools and services, and where changes would make the biggest difference. Your work can help data professionals across the business spend less time working around problems and more time using data to support their teams.

The breadth of the role gives you room to develop your technical understanding while exercising your judgement as an analyst. You'll work alongside engineers and specialists across the data group, with independence in how you approach your work and colleagues to help you get into unfamiliar areas.

For everyone, everywhere. We're people building money without borders - without judgement or prejudice, too. We believe teams are strongest when they are diverse, equitable and inclusive.

We're proud to have a truly international team, and we celebrate our differences.

Inclusive teams help us live our values and make sure every Wiser feels respected, empowered to contribute towards our mission and able to progress in their careers.
