Key Responsibilities:
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Finance Specialist is responsible for processing transactions in the accounting system and general ledger of the assigned office/s or department/s. This role is expected to perform such responsibilities efficiently, accurately and with minimal rework and supervision. This includes performing key accounting processes with a focus on intercompany billing transactions and reconciliations, as well as project finance review and reporting. This role also ensures that grant-funded projects transaction lists and supporting documents are prepared and regularly reviewed for accuracy, completeness and compliance with donor and World Vision requirements.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform key accounting processes and finance operations including month-end and year-end close
- Process transactions in the intercompany billing system, including preparation of invoices and pre-approvals, and recording in the Support Office accounting system.
- Prepare various reconciliations including but not limited to accruals, general ledger accounts, and funding ensuring they are performed accurately each month and by the agreed deadlines with reconciling items cleared on a monthly basis.
- Perform transfer planning and transfer settlements, and prepare the funds transfer list
- Ensure payment of hedges
- Prepare the tax reports in accordance with documented instructions and guidance
- Process funding commitment in the budget system, and ensure funding shifts and carryforwards are completed
- Actively investigate and resolve pending issues and review the general ledger prior to year-end close.
- Support the office during the annual external audit.
Perform Project Finance Review and Compliance
- Conduct regular review of transaction lists and supporting documentation for grant-funded projects, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with donor and World Vision requirements.
- Identify missing, incomplete, or non-compliant supporting documentation and follow up with relevant stakeholders to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.
- Participate in project finance discussions and working groups to address review findings, compliance matters, and related issues as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's or University Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
- Knowledge of financial systems such as MS Dynamics and reporting tools such as Power BI.
- Strong understanding of data management principles and relationships between multiple data sources.
- Minimum 2-3 years of extensive experience in all areas of finance and accounting, preferably within an international NGO, multilateral organization or audit/accounting environment.
- Minimum 6 months experience working or supporting people offshore.
- Has experience in working with people from different levels and functions in the organization.
- Has substantial and successful experience working in a multi-cultural, geographically dispersed work environment and is able to work with several functional managers or stakeholders.
- Certified Public Accountant (preferred but not required)
- Advanced skills or experience in Power BI, PowerPivot and Power Query
- Skilled in reconciling financial data across multiple systems
- Experience inputting and interpreting financial data across a variety of systems in a complex environment.
