Overview
Aleph Alpha is a German artificial intelligence company founded in Heidelberg in 2019 by Jonas Andrulis and Samuel Weinbach, positioned as a European alternative to American frontier labs. It initially trained the multilingual Luminous model family and has since shifted toward being an infrastructure and tooling vendor, selling the PhariaAI stack that lets governments, defence agencies and regulated enterprises run and adapt models entirely on their own hardware. That sovereignty argument, backed by a large funding round from Schwarz Group, Bosch, SAP and Hewlett Packard Enterprise, is the core of its position in the European market.
