Overview
Hermeus is a US defense aviation company that designs, builds and flies high-Mach uncrewed aircraft powered by a precooled Pratt and Whitney F100 engine, with its headquarters in Hawthorne, California near Los Angeles. Founded in 2018 by AJ Piplica, Glenn Case, Skyler Shuford and Michael Smayda, it flew its first aircraft in 2025 and went supersonic 364 days later, holds a Defense Innovation Unit contract scaled to $219 million, and has teams in Atlanta, Jacksonville and Washington. It hires flight software, avionics, structures and propulsion integration engineers, flight test engineers, welders, sheet metal technicians and quality inspectors.
