Data Engineer

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer with expertise in Modern Data Warehousing, Big Data projects and Microsoft SQL Server and Azure-based Business Intelligence solutions.

Your ResponsibilitiesAs a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in our team, primarily responsible for transforming our client’s Data Warehouse into a modern, scalable solution. In the initial phase, we successfully migrated the reporting layer from a Microsoft SQL stack to Azure Databricks, enhancing scalability and performance for reporting. The next phase involves migrating the complete Business Intelligence (BI) platform to Azure Databricks. The ideal candidate will play a dual role: contributing to the maintenance and improvement of the existing solution while also helping to design, plan, and implement the new Azure Databricks platform. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where innovation and collaboration are key.

Your Tasks

• Maintain and Enhance Existing Solutions: Monitor and improve the current reporting layer on Azure Databricks to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Design and Planning: Collaborate with stakeholders to design the architecture of the new Azure Databricks BI platform, ensuring it meets business requirements.
• Implementation: Contribute to the implementation of the Azure Databricks platform, including data ingestion, transformation, and reporting processes.
• Collaboration: Work closely with data analysts, business stakeholders, and other team members to ensure seamless integration of BI tools and reporting capabilities.
• Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for data processes, architecture, and best practices to ensure knowledge sharing and continuity.
• Client Engagement: Cultivate strong relationships with clients, addressing issues and serving as a trusted advisor on data engineering matters.
• Project Quality: Take responsibility for project quality from planning through execution.
• Development and Consultancy: Perform development and consultancy tasks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Requirements Translation: Translate business requirements into technical specifications.
• Product Maintenance: Keep products up to date in collaboration with the team.
• Data Pipelines: Build models and data pipelines, including data transfer, loading, cleansing, and analysis.
• Data Visualizations (Optional): Create data visualizations and reports in Power BI as needed.

You are the perfect candidate if you have…

• 5+ years of proven experience as a Data Engineer with a focus on Modern Data Warehousing and Big Data projects
• Proficiency in Databricks, Azure Data Services, and data warehousing concepts.
• Understanding of Azure cloud services and architecture.
• Strong experience with SQL and familiarity with other data processing languages (e.g., Python, Scala).
• Experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and reporting solutions.
• Experience in an agile environment
• Good problem-solving skills, analytical thinking and client-oriented approach
• Ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment
• Clear, concise communication skills with a strong command of written and spoken English
• Software development background is a huge plus
