We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer - SSIS to develop and maintain SSIS-based ETL/ELT processes that feed an enterprise Azure Data Lake and its business use cases. The role covers building and supporting SSIS packages, transforming and integrating data from enterprise source systems, and keeping production pipelines reliable in a live environment. The engineer will work alongside Databricks, Azure and BI colleagues under ticket-based change control and disciplined documentation.

Key Responsibilities

1.1 ETL/ELT Development

• Design, develop and maintain SSIS packages for data extraction, transformation and loading from enterprise source systems.
• Build and optimize SQL Server objects (tables, views, stored procedures) that support data pipelines and use cases.
• Develop data transformation logic for new and changing use case requirements, in line with agreed business rules.
• Integrate SSIS-based processes with the wider Azure data platform, including data warehouse and Data Lake layers.

1.2 Pipeline Operations and Support

• Monitor scheduled SSIS jobs, investigate failures and restore data flows, coordinating with source teams where the cause sits with them.
• Update packages, mappings and extraction logic when source systems change, so that loads continue without interruption.
• Reprocess data when a fix must apply to past loads, and document the root cause and permanent fix.

1.3 Performance and Data Quality

• Tune package performance, load windows and SQL queries for reliability and efficiency.
• Apply validation and reconciliation checks so that loaded data is complete and accurate.
• Identify opportunities to simplify or modernize legacy SSIS processes.

1.4 Governance, Documentation and Collaboration

• Work through ticket-based change control on Azure DevOps, recording requirements, decisions and outcomes on each ticket.
• Maintain clear documentation of packages, data flows, mappings and changes.
• Collaborate with data engineers, Databricks specialists, BI analysts and business stakeholders in sprint-based delivery.

Required Skills & Experience

2.1 Technical Skills

• 5+ years of data engineering experience, with strong hands-on SSIS development in production environments.
• Advanced SQL Server and T-SQL skills (queries, stored procedures, performance tuning).
• Experience in data warehouse integration, dimensional modelling and ETL/ELT design patterns.
• Experience extracting data from enterprise sources (e.g. ERP, CRM, flat files and APIs).
• Working knowledge of the Azure data platform (e.g. Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Azure SQL).
• Familiarity with Git-based source control and SQL Server Agent or equivalent scheduling.

2.2 Professional Competencies

• Strong ownership of production stability alongside new development work.
• Methodical troubleshooting across source systems, packages and target layers.
• Clear communicator who can explain data issues and logic to business and technical stakeholders.
• Structured working style with disciplined documentation and change-control habits.
• Able to work effectively with remote, international stakeholders and multiple dependent teams.

3.0 Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to Azure Databricks, Spark or migrating SSIS workloads to cloud-native pipelines.
• Experience with SAP, Oracle or Siebel source systems.
• Experience in the automotive, manufacturing or logistics sector.
• Microsoft certifications (e.g. DP-203, DP-900 or Azure Database Administrator).
