Senior MS-SQL Database Administrator (m/f/diverse)

Your tasks

• Supporting database administration, with a primary focus on MS SQL databases on Google Cloud and Azure Cloud;
• Performing database maintenance, housekeeping, and troubleshooting;
• Identifying and resolving database performance issues, including tuning SQL queries, optimizing indexes, and implementing necessary database changes;
• Managing database-related incidents, problems, and changes in collaboration with other technical teams;
• Providing operational support, including capacity planning, system performance analysis, and resource-utilization monitoring;
• Developing and maintaining documentation for database administration procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps;
• Installing, configuring, migrating, upgrading, and patching database systems throughout their lifecycle;
• Conducting ongoing monitoring and proactively managing database systems to ensure high availability and performance;
• Supporting database backup and recovery activities and ensuring appropriate backup strategies and disaster-recovery plans are in place;
• Programming SQL/PLSQL databases;
• Developing batch jobs and process scripts;
• Providing technical support to application developers regarding sequence reliability, standards, and data flows;
• Participating in an on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 availability and response to critical incidents
• Implementing database changes and releases;
• Implementing and maintaining MS SQL Server disaster-recovery and high-availability solutions;
• Ensuring compliance with data-protection regulations.

Your Profile

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in MS SQL Server database administration, ideally in Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure environments;
• Strong experience supporting Cloud PaaS subscriptions and services;
• Solid knowledge of MS SQL Server administration, installation, configuration, patching, migrations, monitoring, backup, and recovery;
• Proven expertise in MS SQL Server high-availability and disaster-recovery solutions;
• Strong skills in database performance analysis and tuning, including configuration optimization, application code tuning, index optimization, and interpreting performance reports;
• Experience with database cloning, duplication, data transfer, and data-extraction features;
• Proficiency in space-management analysis, object reorganization, and capacity planning;
• Experience managing database users, authentication, authorization, and database security;
• Strong troubleshooting and error-debugging skills, including coordinating and raising support requests with external vendors;
• Advanced batch-scripting and SQL database-programming skills;
• Knowledge of cloud security concepts, including key rotation and network-traffic encryption;
• Understanding of IT security, software development methodologies, operational processes, and quality assurance;
• Knowledge of Oracle database technology is an advantage;
• A strong interest in new technologies, combined with a proactive, self-motivated approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving.

As a Senior MS-SQL Database Administrator you will be a part of an international team based in Sofia mainly supporting MS-SQL on-premises and GCP / Azure. We are seeking candidates with wide range of expertise and skills in MS-SQL cloud database support such as day-to-day administration, performance tuning, monitoring, Backup/restore and SQL programming know-how. You will be mentoring other database administrators sharing your expertise and work in a big database team.

Overlapping skills with Oracle databases is an add on. You shall be ready to work in Shift support model to support US databases and perform On-Call support.
