All JerseySTEM roles are pro-bono (unpaid) positions. JerseySTEM is a mission-driven professional network of pro-bono contributors dedicated to improving access to STEM education and career pathways for underserved middle school girls in New Jersey.
Members contribute their professional skills and leverage their networks in service of the organization’s gender-equity agenda.Membership is a minimum six-month commitment of approximately six to ten flexible hours per week and includes a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership. K-12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit.
Overview
As the Salesforce Team Lead, you will drive the strategic execution and operation of JerseySTEM’s Salesforce ecosystem. You will lead, mentor, and empower a remote team of Salesforce Administrators and Developers (including individual contributors and interns), ensuring our technology stack effectively supports JerseySTEM’s mission.
Responsibilities
- Stakeholder & Leadership Communication: Report regular progress updates, platform health metrics, and strategic roadmaps to executive leadership while translating business needs into technical requirements for the team.
- Team Leadership & Onboarding: Recruit, onboard, and mentor Salesforce admins and developers. Align member placements with their individual skill development goals and organizational priorities.
Workflow & Project Management: Lead project scoping, backlog refinement, and task assignment using Jira. Triage user requests and translate business needs into technical projects.
Architecture & Technical Direction: Collaborate with the Salesforce Architect and Product Owners to evaluate declarative (Flows) vs. programmatic (Apex, LWC) solutions.
Team Engagement & Collaboration: Lead weekly team syncs via Google Meet to foster a collaborative remote culture and keep contributors engaged and aligned.
Qualifications
Leadership Experience: 5+ years leading Salesforce teams or implementations.
Core Platform Proficiency: Strong functional expertise in Salesforce Sales Cloud and Experience Cloud.
Technical Depth: In-depth understanding of Flows, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Apex, External Client Apps, and the Salesforce REST API. Experience with unauthenticated (guest user) access is a plus.
Delivery & Agile Mindset: Proven ability to choose appropriate development approaches (declarative vs. programmatic) and manage backlogs effectively.
Familiar with use of Jira and Google Workspace or willing to learn.
Soft Skills: Exceptional communication and empathetic leadership skills with a passion for empowering volunteer teams. Non-profit experience is preferred.
