This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Specialist, Global Infrastructure Operations based in India.
This role is a senior technical position focused on the design, optimization, automation, and reliability of enterprise database platforms. You will work across on-premises infrastructure and public cloud environments, supporting mission-critical applications and complex technology ecosystems. The role combines deep database expertise with performance engineering, high availability, disaster recovery, and cloud technologies. You will serve as a key technical escalation point, helping resolve complex infrastructure and database challenges. You will also influence platform standards, architecture decisions, and long-term technology improvements. Collaboration with application teams, end users, vendors, and infrastructure specialists will be central to your success. Accountabilities:
- Implement, optimize, automate, and maintain enterprise database technologies across on-premises and public cloud environments, including Oracle RAC, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Teradata, and related platforms.
- Design and support Oracle GoldenGate solutions for real-time change data capture and data replication across hybrid infrastructure environments.
- Develop and maintain robust database solutions supporting business-critical workloads, with a focus on performance tuning, upgrades, clustering, redundancy, scalability, and disaster recovery.
- Act as a senior subject matter expert and highest-level technical escalation point for database technologies across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Partner with application developers and end users to troubleshoot and resolve complex database and performance issues affecting mission-critical applications.
- Establish, maintain, and continuously improve technical standards and procedures for database installation, maintenance, upgrades, and platform enhancements.
- Evaluate and communicate architecture and design trade-offs involving availability, performance, interoperability, scalability, and cost to both technical and executive stakeholders.
- Support capacity planning, performance analysis, reporting, and proactive optimization of database and application environments.
- Lead or contribute to infrastructure and database projects, developing short- and long-term implementation plans and delivering initiatives on schedule.
- Coordinate effectively with third-party system integrators, solution providers, and technology vendors.
- Provide technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and cross-training to other members of the infrastructure team.
- Hands-on experience implementing, administering, and optimizing Oracle RAC, Oracle GoldenGate, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server environments.
- Strong expertise in SQL performance tuning, including query optimization, index optimization, execution plan analysis, and plan management.
- Experience delivering enterprise database and cloud technology projects from planning through implementation and completion.
- At least 3 years of experience working with Linux/Unix operating systems such as RHEL, Solaris, or AIX.
- Practical experience with database and application performance tuning, capacity planning, performance reporting, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of clustered environments, high availability architectures, redundancy, and disaster recovery.
- Good knowledge of enterprise database platforms and cloud-based database technologies, particularly within Microsoft Azure.
- Experience working with broader enterprise infrastructure technologies such as virtualization/VMware, server hardware, networks, load balancers, firewalls, SAN storage, backup systems, Active Directory/LDAP, SSO, and cloud platforms such as OCI.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to explain complex technical decisions to both technical and executive audiences.
- Experience managing relationships with external technology vendors, system integrators, and solution providers.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, execute projects effectively, and deliver work within agreed timelines.
- Knowledge of WebSphere, Apache Tomcat, or Oracle WebLogic is a plus.
- Familiarity with Oracle Transportation Management, Oracle Business Intelligence, or Oracle ODI is a plus.
- Exposure to multiple areas of enterprise infrastructure beyond databases is highly desirable.
