Compliance Clerk

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with documentation, transactions, regulatory requirements and internal controls, and who can identify discrepancies and ensure that processes remain compliant.

This role is based in Westville, Durban

Key Responsibilities:

Regulatory & Policy Compliance

• Monitor discounting transactions to ensure compliance with applicable legislation, company policies and contractual requirements.
• Assist with implementing and maintaining compliance frameworks, controls and procedures.
• Conduct signatory checks on agreements to ensure the required compliance standards are met.
• Monitor adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements.

• Review and verify supporting documentation relating to discounting transactions.
• Ensure documentation is accurate, complete and compliant with required procedures.
• Identify discrepancies, irregularities or potential compliance breaches.
• Escalate exceptions and potential risks to the Compliance Manager.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date compliance registers and records.
• Ensure discounting documentation is properly maintained and readily accessible.
• Prepare compliance, exception and monitoring reports for management within agreed deadlines.
• Assist with the accurate maintenance of compliance-related data.

• Identify potential compliance and operational risks within discounting processes.
• Assist with implementing corrective actions where required.
• Support internal and external audits by gathering, reviewing and submitting relevant documentation.
• Ensure audit and compliance information is accurate and complete.

• Liaise with internal stakeholders, including Finance, Credit and Risk, regarding compliance queries.
• Engage with external stakeholders where required to resolve documentation or compliance-related queries.
• Assist with communicating compliance requirements and processes to relevant employees.

Job Experience and Skills Required:

• Matric / Grade 12.
• 2-3 years' experience in a compliance, finance or auditing environment.
• Experience within discounting, financial services or lending will be advantageous.
• Good understanding of regulatory requirements applicable to financial transactions and compliance processes.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Experience working with documentation, transaction verification and internal controls will be advantageous.
