Job Summary

The Network Engineer Intern learns and supports the design, implementation, monitoring and maintenance of enterprise WAN, LAN, and Wireless network services across global locations. This role provides an excellent opportunity for recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in enterprise networking technologies, network operations, troubleshooting, automation and infrastructure projects while working under the guidance of experienced network engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

• WAN Services
  • Assist in monitoring enterprise WAN infrastructure, including SD - WAN, MPLS, Internet, and ISP connectivity.
  • Support network engineers in troubleshooting WAN connectivity and performance issues.
  • Help coordinate with telecommunications providers and vendors for circuit provisioning and incident resolution.
  • Participate in WAN migration, upgrade, and optimization projects.
  • Assist in documenting WAN designs, configurations, and processes.
  • Learn and support emerging WAN technologies and connectivity solutions.
• LAN Services
  • Assist in the administration and support of campus and data center switching environments.
  • Support configuration and maintenance activities for VLANs, routing, switching, and QoS implementations under supervision.
  • Participate in network hardware deployment, refresh, and lifecycle activities.
  • Assist in maintaining network documentation, inventory records, and diagrams.
  • Support standardization and continuous improvement initiatives across LAN environments.
  • Learn and follow established network architecture and security standards.
• Wireless Services
  • Assist in supporting enterprise wireless infrastructure, including controllers and access points.
  • Participate in wireless site surveys and basic performance assessments.
  • Support troubleshooting of wireless connectivity and roaming issues.
  • Assist with wireless deployments and access point installations.
  • Learn wireless design fundamentals, optimization techniques, and security best practices.
  • Support Guest, BYOD, IoT, and corporate wireless services.
• Operations & Support
  • Provide first - level and second - level network support under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Participate in incident, problem, and change management processes.
  • Assist in monitoring network health, performance, and availability.
  • Support planned maintenance activities, upgrades, and network changes.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge articles.
  • Participate in major incident investigations and post - incident reviews as a learning opportunity.
  • Contribute to a collaborative "Follow the Sun" support model.
• Security & Compliance
  • Follow network security standards, policies, and best practices.
  • Assist in monitoring network security controls and compliance requirements.
  • Support vulnerability remediation activities and security -related projects.
  • Learn networking security concepts including segmentation, access control, and network monitoring.
• Automation & Continuous Improvement
  • Assist with network automation and scripting initiatives.
  • Learn to use APIs, Python, and automation tools to improve operational efficiency.
  • Participate in process improvement and workflow optimization initiatives.
  • Support technology evaluations, lab testing, and proof - of- concept activities.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Electronics, or a related field (completed within the last 0 - 2 years).
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals gained through coursework, internships, projects, or certifications.
• Basic knowledge of:
  • TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP
  • Routing and Switching concepts
  • LAN/WAN networking fundamentals
  • Wireless networking basics
  • Network troubleshooting methodologies
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and technical documentation.
• Strong willingness to learn new technologies and networking concepts.

Preferred Qualifications

• Cisco CCNA certification (completed or in progress).
• Internship, academic project, or laboratory experience in networking.
• Exposure to:
  • SD - WAN technologies
  • Cisco networking solutions
  • Wireless networking concepts
  • Python scripting or automation
  • Cloud fundamentals (Azure or AWS)
  • Network monitoring tools
• Understanding of ITIL or IT service management concepts.

The monthly compensation for the internship program is 5,110 RON gross. This amount is fixed and applies uniformly to all full-time internship IT roles within the GES Internship Program.
