Overview
METR, the Model Evaluation and Threat Research organisation, measures whether frontier artificial intelligence models can autonomously complete long and dangerous tasks. Its evaluations of autonomous replication, research engineering and time horizon scaling are run with leading laboratories before deployment, and its published time horizon curve became a widely cited measure of agent progress. The non-profit develops open task suites and methodology so that third parties can reproduce its results.
