AltaGas - Sr. Team Lead, Project Controls

AltaGas is seeking a strategic and experienced Senior Project Controls Team Lead to support the successful delivery of major capital projects. In this role, you will lead project controls professionals across cost, schedule, risk, change management, and reporting while driving process improvement, innovation, and data-driven decision-making across the project lifecycle.

This is an opportunity for a strong technical project controls leader who brings people leadership, strategic thinking, and a forward-looking mindset to support complex, large-scale capital projects.

You will:

• Lead, mentor, and develop a project controls team across cost, planning, risk, and change management, while managing workload priorities, team capacity, accountability, collaboration, and sustained delivery.
• Evaluate, design, and implement efficient project controls processes, workflows, standards, and continuous improvement practices across the full project lifecycle.
• Promote and deploy innovative solutions, including AI-enabled tools and digital systems, to improve project performance, insights, and decision-making.
• Lead cost management activities, including budgeting, forecasting, earned value management, and performance reporting across all project phases.
• Oversee estimate development in alignment with AACE International classifications and best practices.
• Direct schedule development and control, including baseline management, progress tracking, and schedule risk analysis.
• Ensure robust change and risk management processes, including change identification, evaluation, approval, tracking, risk analysis, and mitigation planning.
• Partner with project managers, engineering, construction, commercial teams, and senior leadership to provide clear project performance insights, support alignment, and contribute to governance processes including stage gates, assurance reviews, and executive reporting.

You have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of project controls experience on large-scale capital or major projects, including demonstrated experience leading teams and managing direct reports.
• Strong knowledge of cost control, forecasting, earned value management, AACE estimate classifications, scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project, risk management, and change management.
• Proven ability to implement new tools, technologies, process improvements, and digital or AI-enabled solutions.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• A leadership style that supports mentoring, collaboration, accountability, and relationship-building across teams and leadership levels.
• A strategic, innovative, and adaptable mindset with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver effectively in high-pressure environments.
