Linux Engineer

Main tasks

• Administer, maintain and support Linux environments, ensuring high availability, stability and performance
• Monitor infrastructure, identifying and resolving incidents, performance issues and service disruptions
• Install, configure, patch and upgrade Linux servers and operating systems
• Manage users, groups and permissions, ensuring compliance with security and access control policies
• Implement and maintain backup and recovery solutions
• Configure, optimise and maintain system services and infrastructure components
• Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis to resolve recurring incidents
• Implement system hardening and security best practices
• Produce and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures
• Collaborate with infrastructure, security and application teams to ensure reliable service delivery
• Administer, monitor and support Microsoft Defender for Servers, including alert analysis, incident investigation and implementation of security recommendations

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Linux Systems Engineer or Linux Administrator
• Strong experience administering enterprise Linux environments (Red Hat, Oracle Linux, CentOS or similar)
• Experience with server installation, configuration, patching and upgrades
• Strong troubleshooting and performance analysis skills
• Experience with backup and recovery solutions
• Knowledge of Linux security, hardening and access management
• Experience working with infrastructure and operational support teams

Nice to have

• Experience with Microsoft Defender for Servers
• Shell scripting (Bash) or Python
• Automation tools such as Ansible
• VMware or virtualization technologies
• ITIL knowledge or certification
• Linux certifications (RHCSA, RHCE or similar)
