We are seeking a highly analytical and systems-oriented engineer with a strong desire to understand the foundational mechanics of IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate possesses a proven aptitude for troubleshooting, optimizing performance, and reverse-engineering system configurations. We prioritize strong technical fundamentals, intellectual curiosity, and the capability to transition hands-on technical skills into managing production-grade virtual environments, enterprise storage, and resilient systems, rather than strictly requiring extensive enterprise tenure.
Responsibilities
- Virtual Infrastructure Management: Assist in the provisioning, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of virtual machines, compute resources, and hypervisors.
- Storage & Network Operations: Monitor SAN/NAS storage arrays, manage capacity planning, and support core network and VLAN configurations.
- Solution Evaluation & Validation: Critically review and validate scripts, configurations, and third-party technical solutions to ensure security, accuracy, and production readiness.
- Incident Management & Root Cause Analysis: Investigate system anomalies and failures, conduct thorough root cause analyses, and implement robust solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Testing & Quality Assurance: Develop and maintain staging environments and testing protocols to safely validate deployments prior to production rollout.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive operational runbooks and audit trails for infrastructure procedures.
Requirements
- Analytical Aptitude: A demonstrated passion for system architecture, continuous optimization, and deep-level troubleshooting beyond standard GUI operations.
- Code & Solution Auditing:
- Proficiency in analyzing and comprehending common system scripts (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Python) to evaluate logic and execution flow.
- Strong risk-mitigation skills, including the ability to identify potentially destructive commands, unsafe privilege escalations, and unintended side effects prior to deployment.
- The ability to accurately assess third-party or automated solutions for efficacy, stability, and security compliance.
- Operating System Fundamentals: Comprehensive understanding of Linux and/or Windows Server environments, including process management, permissions, file systems, mount points, and core services.
- Networking Foundations: Strong grasp of fundamental networking concepts, including DNS, DHCP, subnetting, routing, gateways, and port management.
- Virtualization Knowledge: Working knowledge of hypervisor platforms (e.g., VMware, Proxmox, Hyper-V, KVM) and an understanding of the interaction between virtual disks, snapshots, virtual switches, and physical hardware.
- Communication Skills: Professional proficiency in English, with the ability to clearly articulate technical issues, troubleshooting methodologies, and risk assessments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Independent Technical Projects: Experience managing personal lab environments, self-hosted services, or independent infrastructure projects (e.g., personal servers, hypervisors, network appliances).
- Advanced Storage Knowledge: Familiarity with enterprise storage architectures (RAID, iSCSI, NFS) and comprehensive backup strategies.
- Advanced Testing Environments: Practical experience utilizing sandboxes, disposable containers, or virtual machine snapshots for isolated environment testing.
- Note: While relevant industry certifications are advantageous, demonstrated hands-on experience and intellectual curiosity are highly prioritized.
