Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall transport and fleet operation, aligning performance with business objectives.
  • Manage and develop Fleet Supervisors, Controllers and driver teams.
  • Optimize route planning, scheduling, fleet utilization and turnaround times.
  • Ensure full compliance with transport legislation, RTMS and safety standards.
  • Drive fleet performance across uptime, fuel efficiency, maintenance costs and profitability.
  • Manage departmental budgets, cost controls and financial performance.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and SLA performance.
  • Lead recruitment, performance management and staff development.
  • Prepare and present operational and financial reports to senior leadership.
  • Identify opportunities for fleet growth, process improvement and technology adoption.

Experience Required

  • 8-10 years’ transport/logistics experience, including 3-5 years in senior management.
  • Proven leadership of multi-level teams within heavy vehicle transport operations.
  • Strong commercial, budgeting and cost-management skills.
  • Sound knowledge of road transport legislation, RTMS and safety compliance.
  • PBS vehicle operations experience advantageous.
  • Experience with fleet management and telematics systems.
  • Strong client and SLA management experience.
  • Matric essential; relevant tertiary qualification advantageous.
  • Valid driver’s license.
