Overview
Intercom is a customer service software company founded in Dublin in 2011 that began as a messenger embedded in web products and has rebuilt itself around artificial intelligence support agents. Its Fin agent resolves customer questions autonomously from a company's own help content and is priced per resolution rather than per seat, which is an unusual model for the category, and it sits alongside a help desk, knowledge base and proactive messaging tools for human teams. Headquartered in San Francisco with a large engineering presence in Dublin, the company is privately held and competes with Zendesk, Salesforce and the newer artificial intelligence support vendors.
